This series explores capturing torn away layers of paper and paint found on the streets of New York City. There’s a random nature to the process. I find the subject matter by chance, and the tearing away of advertisements happens over time without control or plan.
Only when I photograph the material does it become art, blurring the line between art and life. The pieces capture the raw experience of moving through the streets of New York, revealing the abstraction of what’s left behind and uncovering fragments of past images and moments through what’s been torn away.
